PLAYOFFS

Wednesday will be the big day for most teams to know for sure whether they will be postseason bound. As of Tuesday, here's what the playoff picture looks like.

          Division I South

Mt. Lebanon, Sewickley Academy and Upper St. Clair have all secured a playoff spot. If Lebo wins on Wed. against USC, Lebo will be first and USC third. If USC wins and Sewickley falls to Pittsburgh Central Catholic then USC will be first, Lebo second and Sewickley third. But if USC wins and Sewickley wins, we have a three-way tie at the top and all three teams will be declared section champs. Fourth goes to PCC hands down if it picks up the win over Sewickley. If PCC doesn't win, there will be a four-way tie for fourth with PCC, Bethel Park and Peters Township.

          Division I North

North Allegheny is a lock for first but second is up to the winner of the Franklin Regional and Seneca Valley match-up. If PR pulls off the upset, NA still takes first and the FR/SV match-up winner still takes second and third. Fourth goes to Shady Side Academy if it beats Fox Chapel, regardless of if PR pulls off the upset because of SSA's head-to-head win over the Rams. But PR will take fourth with a win and a SSA loss.

          Division II South

Greensburg Central Catholic takes first whether it beats Winchester Thurston or not and Chartiers Valley is guaranteed second. Baldwin and Quaker Valley still each have a section game scheduled and wins for both will put them in the third and fourth-placed spots. If one trips up and the other wins, the winner takes third.

          Division II North

Wins for Hampton over Vincentian Academy and Butler will guarantee first place for the Talbots. Unless Vincentian pulls off the upset, the Wed. meeting between Hampton and Butler will undoubtedly be for first with the loser taking second. If Erie-McDowell beats Cathedral Prep again then McDowell takes third and Prep gets fourth. If Prep wins, both tie for third.
