Chartiers Valley 18, Latrobe 3
The Chartiers Valley offense came to play Thursday night and absolutely picked apart the Latrobe defense for 11 first quarter goals and a 13-0 halftime lead. Braenden Shaak led the Colts in scoring with four goals and two assists for six points. Both Kevin Gillen and Mitch Redmond tallied a hat-trick apiece while Ryan McGoogan dished out three assists to go along with his two scores. And it certainly didn't help Latrobe's chances of picking up its first section win when CV's Juliano Coury won nine of ten face-offs. Truly an all-around dominating performance by the home side.
The Colts (2-0, 5-1) now go on the road for three-straight beginning with another section match on Tuesday night against winless Norwin (0-1, 0-2). And on Thursday CV clashes with another section rival with a spotless D-II Section I section record, Greensburg Central Catholic (2-0, 3-1).
Latrobe (0-2, 0-4) is still searching for the first win of the 2011 campaign and has a chance to totally redeem itself tonight when the Wildcats host Indiana (1-1, 3-1). Latrobe has been outscored 59 to 15 in its first four games, averaging almost 15 goals allowed per game.

Greensburg Central Catholic 17, Norwin 0
Greensburg Central Catholic looks to be hitting its stride full speed with another big win over a section rival. The Centurions blanked Norwin 17-0 and continue to steamroll fellow D-II Section I teams. In two section games, GCC has outscored the opposition a whopping 32 to 5 while Norwin's defense has surrendered 37 goals in only two games.
The Centurions (2-0, 3-1) have already proven its legitimacy as a potential D-II title contender by recently downing D-I power Pittsburgh Central Catholic, 12-9, and nearly upsetting another D-I giant, Shady Side Academy, 7-6. But before GCC's pivotal section matchup against Chartiers Valley (2-0, 5-1), the Centurions travel to Taylor Allderdice (0-2, 1-3) tonight for a non-section game.
Norwin (0-1, 0-2) has a few days to lick its wounds before hosting D-II powerhourse and section rival Chartiers Valley on Tuesday.

Non-section

Quaker Valley 13, Vincentian Academy 0
Quaker Valley keeps its unbeaten streak alive with a big shutout win at home against Vincentian Academy, 13-0. The Quakers recorded its second win in as many days having beat section foe Canon-McMillan on Wednesday, 9-8.

Quaker Valley (2-0, 3-0) heads to Winchester Thurston (0-1, 0-1) on Tuesday for another section showdown. The Quakers barely escaped Winchester Thurston last season with a narrow 5-4 win.
